When we look at a position in our lives, our first thought is, “How am I going to get the best out of this situation for myself alone?”   We look at it with greedy eyes.

We now need to understand that our thoughts motivate reality.  When we look at the world with selfishness, this negativity gets projected out into the cosmos. 

Once upon a time there were two caterpillars who were great friends-they spent time with each other, they crawled together, they talked with each other.

In Lech Lecha, this week’s portion of the Bible, the Creator tells Abraham to leave his home.  He says, “you’re in a bad place, there are bad people around you, and you’re being influenced by things that are not for your best benefit.  You’ve got to get out of here!”  
However, God doesn’t tell him where to go.

This is the week between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, a time when we want to look inside ourselves - and look to others - and ask the questions:

•What is it that I need to change?

•How can I change these things?

•Who are the people in my life that I’ve hurt?
